Against myself

 In shadows deep, I stand alone,

Against myself, my heart does groan.

A battle fierce, within my soul,

A ceaseless war, my self-control.


I am my foe, in darkness fight,

Through sleepless nights and endless night.

In doubt and fear, I find my way,

Against myself, I must essay.


Yet hope persists, a tiny flame,

Within my heart, it burns the same.

To reconcile, to find my peace,

Against myself, the wars must cease.


I'll seek the light within my core,

Embrace myself, both rich and poor.

For in this strife, a truth I see,

To love oneself is to be free.
